Title: The Belles (The Belles #1)

Author: Dhonielle Clayton

Publisher: Disney Hyperion

Release date: 06/02/2018

Synopsis: Camellia Beauregard is a Belle. In the opulent world of Orléans, Belles are revered, for they control Beauty, and Beauty is a commodity coveted above all else. In Orléans, the people are born gray, they are born damned, and only with the help of a Belle and her talents can they transform and be made beautiful.

But it’s not enough for Camellia to be just a Belle. She wants to be the favorite—the Belle chosen by the Queen of Orléans to live in the royal palace, to tend to the royal family and their court, to be recognized as the most talented Belle in the land. But once Camellia and her Belle sisters arrive at court, it becomes clear that being the favorite is not everything she always dreamed it would be. Behind the gilded palace walls live dark secrets, and Camellia soon learns that the very essence of her existence is a lie—that her powers are far greater, and could be more dangerous, than she ever imagined. And when the queen asks Camellia to risk her own life and help the ailing princess by using Belle powers in unintended ways, Camellia now faces an impossible decision.

With the future of Orléans and its people at stake, Camellia must decide—save herself and her sisters and the way of the Belles—or resuscitate the princess, risk her own life, and change the ways of her world forever.

Thoughts: For month already, this book has been all over booktube. I am pumped about this new release with a New Orleans vibe. I’ll be reading it in French in the coming weeks.

nouveaux livresTitle: A Girl Like That

Author: Tanaz BHATHENA

Publisher: Farrar Straus Giroux Books

Release date: 27/02/2018

Synopsis: A timeless exploration of high-stakes romance, self-discovery, and the lengths we go to love and be loved.

Sixteen-year-old Zarin Wadia is many things: a bright and vivacious student, an orphan, a risk taker. She’s also the kind of girl that parents warn their kids to stay away from: a troublemaker whose many romances are the subject of endless gossip at school.  You don’t want to get involved with a girl like that, they say. So how is it that eighteen-year-old Porus Dumasia has only ever had eyes for her? And how did Zarin and Porus end up dead in a car together, crashed on the side of a highway in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia? When the religious police arrive on the scene, everything everyone thought they knew about Zarin is questioned. And as her story is pieced together, told through multiple perspectives, it becomes clear that she was far more than just a girl like that.

Thoughts: I found out about this book quite randomly while working on this article. First it was the cover that caught my eyes, and then the synopsis fascinated me. Moreover, the Goodread reviews are already great. So I’m excited about this book and I seriously think I’ll be buying it real soon.

So, tell me, which book coming out in February has caught your eyes ?

New releases – January 2018

💫 Happy New Year! 💫

Only three days in, and, already, we are all thinking about the amazing books we will be buying in 2018 🔜📚.

I’ve already talked to you about my most highly anticipated 2018 releases. But today, I wanted to take a look at the new books coming out in January 2018. And I must admit, 2018 is off to a great start 😍😏.

nouveaux livres - janvier 2018Title: Batman – Nightwalker (DC Icons #2)

Author: Marie Lu

Publisher: Random House Books for Young Readers

Release date: 02/01/2018

Synopsis: Before he was Batman, he was Bruce Wayne. A reckless boy willing to break the rules for a girl who may be his worst enemy.

The Nightwalkers are terrorizing Gotham City, and Bruce Wayne is next on their list.

One by one, the city’s elites are being executed as their mansions’ security systems turn against them, trapping them like prey. Meanwhile, Bruce is turning eighteen and about to inherit his family’s fortune, not to mention the keys to Wayne Enterprises and all the tech gadgetry his heart could ever desire. But after a run-in with the police, he’s forced to do community service at Arkham Asylum, the infamous prison that holds the city’s most brutal criminals.

Madeleine Wallace is a brilliant killer . . . and Bruce’s only hope.

In Arkham, Bruce meets Madeleine, a brilliant girl with ties to the Nightwalkers. What is she hiding? And why will she speak only to Bruce? Madeleine is the mystery Bruce must unravel. But is he getting her to divulge her secrets, or is he feeding her the information she needs to bring Gotham City to its knees? Bruce will walk the dark line between trust and betrayal as the Nightwalkers circle closer.

Thoughts: In my Book Releases of 2018 article, I mentioned how pumped I am for Catwoman to come out. But before that, I am really excited to be reading Wonder Woman and this Batman by Marie Lu. The synopsis sounds amazing. Plus, back when I read the Legend trilogy, I had loved Marie Lu’s writing.

nouveaux livres - janvier 2018Title: The Cruel Prince (The Folk of the Air #1)

Author: Holly Black

Publisher: Brown Books for Young Readers

Release date: 02/01/2018

Synopsis: Of course I want to be like them. They’re beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever.

And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.

Jude was seven years old when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.

To win a place at the Court, she must defy him–and face the consequences.

In doing so, she becomes embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, discovering her own capacity for bloodshed. But as civil war threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.

Thoughts: A high fantasy series with fairies !? Hum… YES! Reading the synopsis really made me what to discover this first book and the series that will follow. Moreover, I have never read a Holly Black book and it’s really time for me to make this right.

nouveaux livres - janvier 2018Title: Thunderhead (Arc of a Scythe #2)

Author: Neal Shusterman

Publisher: Simon & Schuster Books for Young

Release date: 09/01/2018

Synopsis: Rowan and Citra take opposite stances on the morality of the Scythedom, putting them at odds, in the second novel of the chilling New York Times bestselling series from Neal Shusterman, author of the Unwind dystology.

Rowan has gone rogue, and has taken it upon himself to put the Scythedom through a trial by fire. Literally. In the year since Winter Conclave, he has gone off-grid, and has been striking out against corrupt scythes—not only in MidMerica, but across the entire continent. He is a dark folk hero now—“Scythe Lucifer”—a vigilante taking down corrupt scythes in flames.

Citra, now a junior scythe under Scythe Curie, sees the corruption and wants to help change it from the inside out, but is thwarted at every turn, and threatened by the “new order” scythes. Realizing she cannot do this alone—or even with the help of Scythe Curie and Faraday, she does the unthinkable, and risks being “deadish” so she can communicate with the Thunderhead—the only being on earth wise enough to solve the dire problems of a perfect world. But will it help solve those problems, or simply watch as perfection goes into decline?

Thoughts: Last year, when this book came out in France, I was the only book anyone was talking about. And I have been dying to read it ever since. Now that the second and final book is coming out, I am ready for a reading marathon.

nouveaux livres - janvier 2018Title: Iron Gold (Red Rising #4)

Author: Pierce Brown

Publisher: Del Rey

Synopsis: They call him father, liberator, warlord, Reaper. But he feels a boy as he falls toward the pale blue planet, his armor red, his army vast, his heart heavy. It is the tenth year of war and the thirty-second of his life.

A decade ago, Darrow was the hero of the revolution he believed would break the chains of the Society. But the Rising has shattered everything: Instead of peace and freedom, it has brought endless war. Now he must risk everything he has fought for on one last desperate mission. Darrow still believes he can save everyone, but can he save himself?

And throughout the worlds, other destinies entwine with Darrow’s to change his fate forever:

And Lysander au Lune, the heir in exile to the sovereign, wanders the stars with his mentor, Cassius, haunted by the loss of the world that Darrow transformed, and dreaming of what will rise from its ashes.

Thoughts: Ok, I must confess I have yet to read this series. And yet I’ve heard so much about this, and I really want to get started on this. Now that this fourth book is coming out, I think it’s about time I catch up. Don’t you think?

And to show he’s serious, Steele is taking hostages.

Cinder and Kai, Scarlet and Wolf, Cress and Thorne, and Winter and Jacin all feature in this epic new battle. But it is Iko who must face her deepest fears when she uncovers the truth about her own unusual programming.

Thoughts: You might not know this, but I loooove the Lunar Chronicles and Iko was always one of my favorite characters in this series. I miss this universe a lot, so I am really looking forward to diving back in.

So, which on these new books might join your TBR in January?

Happy Readings,

Gaëlle

Book releases of 2018

Hello readers!

Today I am writing one of my favourite articles to write, in which I tell you all about the new book releases of 2018. If you follow me on GoodReads, you might know that I have a list of all the great releases of 2018. This list is over 30 books long, so I won’t go through all of it.

No, today I’m just going to focus on the books I am most excited about. The ones that have me counting the days until they finally come out. For the rest, you’ll have to check out the monthly articles dedicated to the new releases of the month 😘.

Title: Restore Me (Shatter Me #4)

Author: Tahereh Mafi

Publisher: HarperCollins

Release date: March 6th 2018

Synopsis: Juliette Ferrars thought she’d won. She took over Sector 45, was named the new Supreme Commander, and now has Warner by her side. But she’s still the girl with the ability to kill with a single touch—and now she’s got the whole world in the palm of her hand. When tragedy hits, who will she become? Will she be able to control the power she wields and use it for good?

Why am I excited about this? : I cannot wait to discover this new trilogy in the Shatter Me universe. I read the original series back in 2015 and I absolutely adored it. However, I always thought something was missing at the end, I’ve always wanted more. And now I have more!

Title: Obsidio  (The Illuminae Files #3)

Author: Amie Kaufman et Jay Kristoff

Publisher: Knopf Books for Young Readers

Release Date: March 13th 2018

Synopsis: Kady, Ezra, Hanna, and Nik narrowly escaped with their lives from the attacks on Heimdall station and now find themselves crammed with 2,000 refugees on the container ship, Mao. With the jump station destroyed and their resources scarce, the only option is to return to Kerenza—but who knows what they’ll find seven months after the invasion?

Meanwhile, Kady’s cousin, Asha, survived the initial BeiTech assault and has joined Kerenza’s ragtag underground resistance. When Rhys—an old flame from Asha’s past—reappears on Kerenza, the two find themselves on opposite sides of the conflict.

With time running out, a final battle will be waged on land and in space, heros will fall, and hearts will be broken.

Why am I excited about this? : This book was supposed to come out in 2017, but alas it was pushed back to 2018. The wait is killing me but it’s almost over. And I have a feeling I’m going to go through this book in no time. Before that, I might reread Illuminae and Gemina via audiobook.

Title: A Court of Frost and Starlight

Author: Sarah J. Maas

Publisher: Bloomsbury

Release Date: May 1st 2018

Synopsis: Feyre, Rhys, and their close-knit circle of friends are still busy rebuilding the Night Court and the vastly-changed world beyond. As Feyre navigates her first Winter Solstice as High Lady, she finds that those dearest to her have more wounds than she anticipated—scars that will have far-reaching impact on the future of their Court

Why am I excited about this? : Do I really need to answer this question? You already know how much I love Sarah J. Maas and the ACOTAR series. I absolutely loved A Court of Wings and Ruin, so of course, I am counting the days until ACOFAS comes out.

Title: The Burning Maze (The Trials of Apollo #3)

Author: Rick Riordan

Publisher: Disney-Hyperion

Release Date: May 1st 2018

Synopsis: The formerly glorious god Apollo, cast down to earth in punishment by Zeus, is now an awkward mortal teenager named Lester Papadopoulos. In order to regain his place on Mount Olympus, Lester must restore five Oracles that have gone dark. But he has to achieve this impossible task without having any godly powers and while being duty-bound to a confounding young daughter of Demeter named Meg. Thanks a lot, Dad.

With the help of some demigod friends, Lester managed to survive his first two trials, one at Camp Half-Blood, and one in Indianapolis, where Meg received the Dark Prophecy. The words she uttered while seated on the Throne of Memory revealed that an evil triumvirate of Roman emperors plans to attack Camp Jupiter. While Leo flies ahead on Festus to warn the Roman camp, Lester and Meg must go through the Labyrinth to find the third emperor—and an Oracle who speaks in word puzzles—somewhere in the American Southwest. There is one glimmer of hope in the gloom-filled prophecy: The cloven guide alone the way does know. They will have a satyr companion, and Meg knows just who to call upon…

Why am I excited about this? : After one hell of a Rick Riordan marathon in 2017, I now find myself with no Riordan book to read. And that’s tough. So I am really excited to dive back into his work with the third book in the Trials of Apollo series. I know this will be fun and epic, and, I am hoping, full of cameos.

Title: A Reaper at the Gates (An Ember in the Ashes #3)

Author: Sabaa Tahir

Publisher: Razorbill

Release date : May 22nd 2018

Synopsis: Beyond the Empire and within it, the threat of war looms ever larger.

The Blood Shrike, Helene Aquilla, is assailed on all sides. Emperor Marcus, haunted by his past, grows increasingly unstable, while the Commandant capitalizes on his madness to bolster her own power. As Helene searches for a way to hold back the approaching darkness, her sister’s life and the lives of all those in the Empire hang in the balance.

Far to the east, Laia of Serra knows the fate of the world lies not in the machinations of the Martial court, but in stopping the Nightbringer. But while hunting for a way to bring him down, Laia faces unexpected threats from those she hoped would aid her, and is drawn into a battle she never thought she’d have to fight.

And in the land between the living and the dead, Elias Veturius has given up his freedom to serve as Soul Catcher. But in doing so, he has vowed himself to an ancient power that will stop at nothing to ensure Elias’s devotion—even at the cost of his humanity.

Why am I excited about this? : For over a year and a half, I’ve been waiting for this third instalment to come out. I loved both of the first books in this series and I have a feeling this next one is going to be epic. I cannot wait to discover what is going to happen.

sorties de l'annéeTitle: Catwoman – Soulstealer (DC Icons #3)

Author: Sarah J Maas

Publisher: Random House Books for Young Readers

Release date: August 7th 2017

Why am I excited about this? : Ok, so I first need to read Wonder Woman and Batman but then, I know I’m going to need this book ASAP. Superheroes and Sarah J. Maas… what more could a girl want? Although a better cover would have been appreciated, I am still really pumped about this future release.

Title: Throne of Glass #7

Author: Sarah J. Maas

Publisher: Bloomsbury

Release date: September 2018 (🤞)

Synopsis:

Why am I excited about this? : We know nothing about this book yet. Not the title, nor the synopsis, nor the release date. But this is already my most anticipated book of 2018. I have so much love for the Throne of Glass series. For many years this series has meant a lot to me and that final book is probably going to reck me. I cannot wait to read it, especially since it’s been pushed back for Tower of Dawn (which was dope).

Title: What if it’s Us?

Author: Becky Albertalli et Adam Silvera

Publisher: HarperTeen

Release date : October 2nd 2018

Synopsis: What If It’s Us opens as Arthur and Ben meet at the post office as Ben is shipping his ex-boyfriend’s things back to him. They subsequently endure the frustration of knowing there was a missed connection, before the universe pushes them back together again in a series of failed “first” dates.

Why am I excited about this? : This year I read my first Adam Silvera book. And although I have yet to read Becky Albertally, I’ve heard so many great things about her books. So I am really excited about this fall release and the synopsis is really catchy and I am already sold on this book.

Title: Queen of Air and Darkness

Author: Cassandra Clare

Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry Books

Release date: December 4th 2018

One fragment of the Blackthorn family flees to Los Angeles, seeking to discover the source of the blight that is destroying the race of warlocks. Meanwhile, Julian and Emma take desperate measures to put their forbidden love aside and undertake a perilous mission to Faerie to retrieve the Black Volume of the Dead. What they find in the Courts is a secret that may tear the Shadow World asunder and open a dark path into a future they could never have imagined. Caught in a race against time, Emma and Julian must save the world of Shadowhunters before the deadly power of the parabatai curse destroys them and everyone they love.

Why am I excited about this? : Once again, I don’t think I need to express how excited I am about this book. Lord of Shadows completely broke me into pieces. And so, having to wait over a year and a half is torture. I have no idea about what’s going to happen in this book, but I know for sure it’s going to be one of the best books of 2018.

So what new book releases have you pumped for 2018?

Happy Readings,

Gaëlle

New releases – November 2017

It’s almost the end of the month, and so, as per usual, it’s time to check out the new books that are coming out in November 🔜📚.

There are still quite a lot of books coming out in November, altough not as much as in October and September. So beware, this article is dangerous for your wallet💸.

new books - november 2017Title: Renegades

Author: Marissa Meyer

Publisher: Feiwel & Friends

Release date: 11/07/2017

Nova has a reason to hate the Renegades, and she is on a mission for vengeance. As she gets closer to her target, she meets Adrian, a Renegade boy who believes in justice—and in Nova. But Nova’s allegiance is to a villain who has the power to end them both.

Thoughts: I LOVE The Lunar Chronicles, so obviously I’m super excited about this book. I’ve been excited for this book for years, back when it was nothing more than a board on Marissa’s Pinterest.

new booksTitle: Nightfall (Keeper of the Lost Cities #6)

Author: Shannon Messenger

Publisher: Aladdin

Release date: 11/07/2017

Synopsis: Sophie Foster is struggling. Grieving. Scrambling. But she knows one thing: she will not be defeated.

All paths lead to Nightfall—an ominous door to an even more ominous place—and Sophie and her friends strike a dangerous bargain to get there. But nothing can prepare them for what they discover. The problems they’re facing stretch deep into their history. And with time running out, and mistakes catching up with them, Sophie and her allies must join forces in ways they never have before.

Thoughts: Now that I don’t have any Rick Riordan books left to read, I’m gonna need something else to enjoy middle-grade fantasy. And this series sounds perfect for that!

new booksTitle: The Becoming of Noah Shaw (The Shaw Confessions #1)

Author: Michelle Hodkin

Publisher: Simon & Schuster

Release date: 11/07/2017

Synopsis: Everyone thinks seventeen-year-old Noah Shaw has the world on a string.
They’re wrong.
Mara Dyer is the only one he trusts with his secrets and his future.
He shouldn’t.
And both are scared that uncovering the truth about themselves will force them apart.
They’re right.

Thoughts: I have never read the Mara Dyer trilogy (altough I’ve had it on my wishlist for ages) so this new release isn’t that exciting. But still, this book makes me want to get caught up on the series!

new books - november 2017Title: Whichwood

Author: Tahereh Mafi

Publisher: Dutton Books

Release date: 11/14/2017

Synopsis: Laylee can barely remember the happier times before her beloved mother died. Before her father, driven by grief, lost his wits (and his way). Before she was left as the sole remaining mordeshoor in the village of Whichwood, destined to spend her days washing the bodies of the dead and preparing their souls for the afterlife. It’s become easy to forget and easier still to ignore the way her hands are stiffening and turning silver, just like her hair, and her own ever-increasing loneliness and fear.

But soon, a pair of familiar strangers appears, and Laylee’s world is turned upside down as she rediscovers color, magic, and the healing power of friendship.

Thoughts: This middle-grade fantasy book sounds sooo good. I mean it’s based on Persian mythology and it’s about a girl who washes dead bodies for a living. That’s so unique, I need to read it.

So, which of the new books coming out in November will be joining your TBR pile ?

Tell me everything in the comment section below !

As a result, Call has been imprisoned and interrogated. Everyone wants to know what Constantine was up to-and how he lives on.
But Call has no idea.
It is only when he’s broken out of prison that the full potential of Constantine’s plan is suddenly in his hands . . . and he must decide what to do with his power.
In this spellbinding fourth book of Magisterium, bestselling authors Holly Black and Cassandra Clare take us beyond the realm of the living and into the dangers of the dead.

Thoughts: I love Cassandra Clare, I love middle-grade books and I love fantasy. So obviously, this series is perfect for me. And yet I haven’t read it yet 🙃. As they say, So many books, so little time. Hopefully, I’ll read this series real soon and we’ll talk about it.

Ok, so tell me everything… Which books will join your TBR pile in October?

Enjoy your reads,

Gaëlle

New Releases – September 2017

Hey ! It’s the end of the month, which means it’s time to talk about the book releases for next month. September is always a big month for new books, there are many new releases, and so I had to limit myself to pick just a few or we’d be here for hours!

As always, my comments are open, so let me know which releases are your favorite. Ok, let’s get started.

Tower of Dawn - Book ReleasesTitle: Tower of Dawn (Throne of Glass #6)

Author: Sarah J. Maas

Publisher: Bloomsbury

Release date: 05/09/2017

Synopsis: Chaol Westfall has always defined himself by his unwavering loyalty, his strength, and his position as the Captain of the Guard. But all of that has changed since the glass castle shattered, since his men were slaughtered, since the King of Adarlan spared him from a killing blow, but left his body broken.
His only shot at recovery lies with the legendary healers of the Torre Cesme in Antica—the stronghold of the southern continent’s mighty empire. And with war looming over Dorian and Aelin back home, their survival might lie with Chaol and Nesryn convincing its rulers to ally with them.
But what they discover in Antica will change them both—and be more vital to saving Erilea than they could have imagined.

Thoughts: Throne of Glass is one of my favorite series, by one of my favorite authors. Needless to say, I am beyond excited about this one. Moreover, I am really curious to see how this book will be different compared to the rest of the series since it focuses only on Chaol. And as usual, I will read it in hours and then wait for months until I can finally read the conclusion next year.

book releasesTitle: They Both Die at the End

Author: Adam Silvera

Publisher: Harper Teen

Release date: 05/09/2017

Synopsis: On September 5, a little after midnight, Death-Cast calls Mateo Torrez and Rufus Emeterio to give them some bad news: They’re going to die today. Mateo and Rufus are total strangers, but, for different reasons, they’re both looking to make a new friend on their End Day. The good news: There’s an app for that. It’s called the Last Friend, and through it, Rufus and Mateo are about to meet up for one last great adventure and to live a lifetime in a single day.

Thoughts: I have yet to read an Adam Silvera novel… I know, what have I been doing !? But you know how it goes, so many books, so little time. But this book I have to read. The cover and the synopsis have me completely hooked.

Title: The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding

Author: Alexandra Bracken

Publisher: Disney Hyperion

Release date: 05/09/2017

Synopsis: Prosper is the only unexceptional Redding in his old and storied family history — that is, until he discovers the demon living inside him. Turns out Prosper’s great-great-great-great-great-something grandfather made — and then broke — a contract with a malefactor, a demon who exchanges fortune for eternal servitude. And, weirdly enough, four-thousand-year-old Alastor isn’t exactly the forgiving type.
The fiend has reawakened with one purpose — to destroy the family whose success he ensured and who then betrayed him. With only days to break the curse and banish Alastor back to the demon realm, Prosper is playing unwilling host to the fiend, who delights in tormenting him with nasty insults and constant attempts trick him into a contract. Yeah, Prosper will take his future without a side of eternal servitude, thanks.
Little does Prosper know, the malefactor’s control over his body grows stronger with each passing night, and there’s a lot Alastor isn’t telling his dim-witted (but admittedly strong-willed) human host.

Thoughts: I love middle grade and I am always curious to discover new ones. And even though I wasn’t completely convinced by The Darkest Minds, I am sure Alexandra Bracken as the potential to write a great middle-grade novel.

If there's no tomorrow - book releasesTitle: If There’s No Tomorrow

Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout

Publisher: Harlequin Teen

Release date: 05/09/2017

Synopsis: Lena Wise is always looking forward to tomorrow, especially at the start of her senior year. She’s ready to pack in as much friend time as possible, to finish college applications and to maybe let her childhood best friend Sebastian know how she really feels about him. For Lena, the upcoming year is going to be epic—one of opportunities and chances.
Until one choice, one moment, destroys everything.
Now Lena isn’t looking forward to tomorrow. Not when friend time may never be the same. Not when college applications feel all but impossible. Not when Sebastian might never forgive her for what happened. For what she let happen.
With the guilt growing each day, Lena knows that her only hope is to move on. But how can she move on when her and her friends’ entire existences have been redefined? How can she move on when tomorrow isn’t even guaranteed?

Thoughts: Jennifer L. Armentrout. A contemporary. A dash of mystery. I mean, what more could a girl want? Also, the cover is stunning, which doesn’t hurt.

Book releasesTitle: Warcross

Author: Marie Lu

Publisher: G.P. Putnam’s Sons Books for Young Readers

Release date: 12/09/2017

Synopsis: For the millions who log in every day, Warcross isn’t just a game—it’s a way of life. The obsession started ten years ago and its fan base now spans the globe, some eager to escape from reality and others hoping to make a profit. Struggling to make ends meet, teenage hacker Emika Chen works as a bounty hunter, tracking down players who bet on the game illegally. But the bounty hunting world is a competitive one, and survival has not been easy. Needing to make some quick cash, Emika takes a risk and hacks into the opening game of the international Warcross Championships—only to accidentally glitch herself into the action and become an overnight sensation.
Convinced she’s going to be arrested, Emika is shocked when instead she gets a call from the game’s creator, the elusive young billionaire Hideo Tanaka, with an irresistible offer. He needs a spy on the inside of this year’s tournament in order to uncover a security problem . . . and he wants Emika for the job. With no time to lose, Emika’s whisked off to Tokyo and thrust into a world of fame and fortune that she’s only dreamed of. But soon her investigation uncovers a sinister plot, with major consequences for the entire Warcross empire.

Thoughts: Marie Lu wrote Legend, a trilogy I adore. And although I have yet to read her second series, I really want to discover this third one. Mostly I admire her capacity to go from a dystopy, to a fantasy novel, to a more sci-fy one.

book releasesTitle: There’s Someone Inside Your House

Author: Stephanie Perkins

Publisher: Dutton Books for Young Readers

Release date: 26/09/2017

Synopsis: One-by-one, the students of Osborne High are dying in a series of gruesome murders, each with increasing and grotesque flair. As the terror grows closer and the hunt intensifies for the killer, the dark secrets among them must finally be confronted.

Thoughts: It’s not every day you see an author, mostly known for her cute contemporary romance novels write a book that is more of a horror movie than a romantic comedy. So obviously I am intrigued!

Well, that’s it for the September book releases. Can you feel the hole in your wallet? Cause I sure can! I’ll be back soon to tell you about the books I’ve read this month as well as the reading news of August.

Enjoy your reads,

Gaëlle

New Releases – June 2017

June is (almost) here, and so it is time to check out the books that will be coming out this month. There are not a lot of new releases in June, but a few did catch my eyes.

Our Dark Duet - SCHWAB - Le Book CornerTitle: Our Dark Duet

Author: Victoria SCHWAB

Publisher: Greenwillow Books

Synopsis: Kate Harker is a girl who isn’t afraid of the dark. She’s a girl who hunts monsters. And she’s good at it. August Flynn is a monster who can never be human, no matter how much he once yearned for it. He’s a monster with a part to play. And he will play it, no matter the cost.
Nearly six months after Kate and August were first thrown together, the war between the monsters and the humans is a terrifying reality. In Verity, August has become the leader he never wished to be, and in Prosperity, Kate has become the ruthless hunter she knew she could be. When a new monster emerges from the shadows—one who feeds on chaos and brings out its victim’s inner demons—it lures Kate home, where she finds more than she bargained for. She’ll face a monster she thought she killed, a boy she thought she knew, and a demon all her own.

Title: Midnight Jewel (The Glittering Court #2)

Author: Richelle MEAD

Publisher: Razorbill

Release Date: 06/27/2017

Synopsis: A refugee of war, Mira was cast out of her home country and thrust into another, where the conditions were inhospitable at best. In a life-altering twist of fate, she is given the chance to escape once more, and she takes it, joining the Glittering Court.
Both a school and a business venture, the Glittering Court is designed to transform impoverished girls into upper-class ladies who appear destined for powerful and wealthy marriages in the New World. There, Mira finds herself subjected to persecution, not only from her fellow Glittering Court jewels, but from her suitors, as well—men she would potentially be expected to give her life to.
By day, she goes through the motions, learning the etiquette and customs that will help to earn her anonymity, even making a couple true friends in the process, the forthright ladies’ maid Adelaide and the ambitious laundress Tamsin. But by night, Mira hatches a different plan entirely—one that, if exposed, could get her hanged in the highest court of Adoria.

Thoughts: Lately I’ve been loving Richelle Mead, so off-course this caught my attention. And even though the first book got mixed reviews I am still intrigued. Maybe I’ll give this series a chance soon.

So that’s it for the news releases that caught my attention in June… What future releases are you most looking forward to ?

Happy Readings,

Gaëlle
