Today I am bringing you my favorite article of the year. It’s time to take a look at the books coming out in 2019! Of course, this is just the selection of my most anticipated releases, as there are sooo many books coming out next year. I tried to limit myself with this selection and failed epically 😅… So grab something to eat or drink cause this article is quite long and let’s take a look at the list. 👇👀
2019 Book Releases
Title: On the Come Up
Author: Angie Thomas
Publisher: Balzer + Bray
Release Date: 05.02.2019
Synopsis: Sixteen-year-old Bri wants to be one of the greatest rappers of all time. Or at least make it out of her neighborhood one day. As the daughter of an underground rap legend who died before he hit big, Bri’s got big shoes to fill. But now that her mom has unexpectedly lost her job, food banks and shutoff notices are as much a part of Bri’s life as beats and rhymes. With bills piling up and homelessness staring her family down, Bri no longer just wants to make it—she has to make it.
Early in 2018 I read and adored The Hate U Give (seriously, you should all read it). I am so pumped for this new book by this talented author. I’m sure it will be just as great and moving.
Title: The Red Scrolls of Magic (The Eldest Curses #1)
Author: Cassandra Clare & Wesley Chu
Publisher: Simon & Schuster
Release Date: 02.04.2019
Synopsis: All Magnus Bane wanted was a vacation—a lavish trip across Europe with Alec Lightwood, the Shadowhunter who against all odds is finally his boyfriend. But as soon as the pair settles in Paris, an old friend arrives with news about a demon-worshipping cult called the Crimson Hand that is bent on causing chaos around the world. A cult that was apparently founded by Magnus himself. Years ago. As a joke.
Now Magnus and Alec must race across Europe to track down the Crimson Hand and its elusive new leader before the cult can cause any more damage. As if it wasn’t bad enough that their romantic getaway has been sidetracked, demons are now dogging their every step, and it is becoming harder to tell friend from foe. As their quest for answers becomes increasingly dire, Magnus and Alec will have to trust each other more than ever—even if it means revealing the secrets they’ve both been keeping.
As an OG Malec fan, this is the series I’ve been waiting and dreaming of. It’s finally coming out this year and I couldn’t be more excited about it. I can’t wait to discover this new series by Cassandra Clare.
Titre: Aurora Rising (The Aurora Cycle #1)
Auteur: Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
Editions: Knopf Books for Young Readers
Date de sortie: 07.05.2019
Résumé: The year is 2380, and the graduating cadets of Aurora Academy are being assigned their first missions. Star pupil Tyler Jones is ready to recruit the squad of his dreams, but his own boneheaded heroism sees him stuck with the dregs nobody else in the Academy would touch…
A cocky diplomat with a black belt in sarcasm
A sociopath scientist with a fondness for shooting her bunkmates
A smart-ass techwiz with the galaxy’s biggest chip on his shoulder
An alien warrior with anger management issues
A tomboy pilot who’s totally not into him, in case you were wondering
And Ty’s squad isn’t even his biggest problem—that’d be Aurora Jie-Lin O’Malley, the girl he’s just rescued from interdimensional space. Trapped in cryo-sleep for two centuries, Auri is a girl out of time and out of her depth. But she could be the catalyst that starts a war millions of years in the making, and Tyler’s squad of losers, discipline-cases and misfits might just be the last hope for the entire galaxy.
They’re not the heroes we deserve. They’re just the ones we could find. Nobody panic.
Kaufman & Kristoff brought us the epic series that is The Illuminae Files, one of my favorite. In 2019 they are back with a new trilogy which I can’t wait to read.
Title: Again, But Better
Author: Christine Riccio
Publisher: Wednesday Books
Release Date: 07.05.2019
Synopsis: Shane has been doing college all wrong. Pre-med, stellar grades, and happy parents…sounds ideal — but Shane’s made zero friends, goes home every weekend, and romance…what’s that?

Shane signs up for a semester abroad in London. She’s going to right all her college mistakes: make friends, pursue boys, and find adventure!
Easier said than done. She is soon faced with the complicated realities of living outside her bubble, and when self-doubt sneaks in, her new life starts to fall apart.
Shane comes to find that, with the right amount of courage and determination one can conquer anything. Throw in some fate and a touch of magic – the possibilities are endless.
I’ve know Christine as a Booktuber for a while now and so I followed this book’s creation video after video. I’m really curious to find out what the final result looks like. Also, I am a sucker for cutsie romances.
Title: The Tyrant’s Tomb (Trials of Apollo #4)
Author: Rick Riordan
Publisher: Disney Hyperion
Release Date: 24.09.2019
Synopsis: It’s not easy being Apollo, especially when you’ve been turned into a human and banished from Olympus. On his path to restoring five ancient oracles and reclaiming his godly powers, Apollo (aka Lester Papadopoulos) has faced both triumphs and tragedies. Now his journey takes him to Camp Jupiter in the San Francisco Bay Area, where the Roman demigods are preparing for a desperate last stand against the evil Triumvirate of Roman emperors. Hazel, Reyna, Frank, Tyson, Ella, and many other old friends will need Apollo’s aid to survive the onslaught. Unfortunately, the answer to their salvation lies in the forgotten tomb of a Roman ruler . . . someone even worse than the emperors Apollo has already faced.
You already know of my love for Rick Riordan, so it should come as no surprise that this book made the list. Can’t wait for more of Apollo’s sass and reunion with old friends.
Title: Ninth House (Alex Stern #1)
Author: Leigh Bardugo
Publisher: Flatiron Books
Release Date: 01.10.2019
Synopsis: The new series centers on Alex Stern, a 20-year-old California high school dropout with a criminal past who is mysteriously offered a second chance as a Yale University freshman. Ninth House, the first book, follows Stern’s freshman year, where she is charged with monitoring Yale’s secret societies, who engage in sinister occult activities.
Leigh Bardugo is working on a sort of spooky contemporary new series? I am SOLD! I love this author and I can’t wait to see what she does with this new universe.
Title: Chain of Gold (The Last Hours #1)
Author: Cassandra Clare
Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry Books
Release Date: 19.11.2019
Synopsis: Welcome to Edwardian London, a time of electric lights and long shadows, the celebration of artistic beauty and the wild pursuit of pleasure, with demons waiting in the dark. For years there has been peace in the Shadowhunter world. James and Lucie Herondale, children of the famous Will and Tessa, have grown up in an idyll with their loving friends and family, listening to stories of good defeating evil and love conquering all. But everything changes when the Blackthorn and Carstairs families come to London…and so does a remorseless and inescapable plague.
James Herondale longs for a great love, and thinks he has found it in the beautiful, mysterious Grace Blackthorn. Cordelia Carstairs is desperate to become a hero, save her family from ruin, and keep her secret love for James hidden. When disaster strikes the Shadowhunters, James, Cordelia and their friends are plunged into a wild adventure which will reveal dark and incredible powers, and the true cruel price of being a hero…and falling in love.
Chain of Gold is, by far, my most anticipated 2019 release. Ever since this series was announced I’ve been dying to get my hands on it. Also, I miss my Infernal Devices babies.
Title: Crescent City
Author: Sarah J. Maas
Release Date: Automne 2019
Synopsis: Set in a world where humans struggle to survive amid intricate hierarchies of demons, shifters, angels, and countless other magical creatures, Crescent City tells the story of half-human, half-Sidhe Bryce Quinlan. After the brutal slaying of her best friend, Bryce joins forces with a powerful warrior-angel to hunt down the killer, leading them toward a treacherous enemy that could destroy the fabric of their world. The series will feature an array of captivating new characters, including a spitfire heroine who will stop at nothing to avenge her friend and protect her vibrant city, an epic world on the brink of war, and Maas’ signature heart-pounding romance.
I’ve been hoping for this series to come out, ever since I stumbled upon Sarah’s Pinterest board for it, years ago. I’m very curious to see what this new world and set of characters will bring.
Title: Wayward Son (Simon Snow #2)
Author: Rainbow Rowell
Publisher: Wednesday Books
Release Date: Automne 2019
Three years ago, I fell in love with Carry On. Ever since I’ve been hoping and dreaming for a sequel: and here it is! Can’t wait to be reunited with my babies Baz and Simon.
Title: Legends #4
Author: Marie Lu
Publisher: Roaring Brook Press
Release Date: Automne 2019
Synopsis: The first book is set 10 years after her third “Legend” installment, “Champion,” which came out in 2013. Currently untitled and scheduled for Fall 2019, the upcoming novel will again feature such characters as young Eden Bataar Wing and take place in the dystopian Republic of America.
In 2015, the Legend Trilogy ended and broke my heart (in the best way though, you should definitely check it out). I have always hoped we would get a sequel someday and I am so glad we finally will next year.
Title: A Court of Thorns and Roses #3.2
Author: Sarah J. Maas
Release Date: 2019 (?)
I’m not even sure this book will actually come out this year, cause we have zero informations about it. But I choose to be an optimist!
Did your most anticipated release made the list? If not let me know in the comments, I would love to check it out. In the meantime, happy holidays to all of you. 💕
