Hello readers 🙂
Summer holidays are almost over which means fall is coming. And most importantly, fall new releases! So it’s time to take a look at the books releases of next month. Keep in mind these are just the ones that caught my eyes, but I know there are many other great books coming out in September. In fact, feel free to share with me the ones you’re anticipating the most.
Title: The Golden Tower (Magisterium #5)
Author: Cassandra Clare & Holly Black
Publisher: Scholastic Inc.
Release date: 11/09/2018
Synopsis: A generation ago, powerful mage Constantine Madden came close to achieving what no magician had ever achieved: the ability to bring back the dead. He didn’t succeed . . . but he did find a way to keep himself alive, inside a young child named Callum Hunt.
Facing up to what he is, Callum has battled chaos and evil across four years of magical training at the Magisterium, eventually defeating the armies of chaos in an epic battle.
It came at a cost.
Now, triumphant and heartbroken, Callum Hunt has just about had enough, and is ready to complete his training. But the evil Callum faced has not given up just yet…
Cassandra Clare and Holly Black’s middle-grade series is coming to an end with this fifth installment. I must say I’m dying to finally discover this series (you know I adore Cassie Clare). I’ll probably start this one soon, once I’m done with Keeper of the Lost Cities.
Title: The Storm Runner
Author: J.C. Cervantes
Publisher: Rick Riordan Presents (Disney Hyperion)
Release date: 18/09/2018
Synopsis: Zane has always enjoyed exploring the dormant volcano near his home in New Mexico, even though hiking it is challenging. He’d much rather hang out there with his dog, Rosie, than go to middle school, where kids call him Sir Limps a Lot, McGimpster, or Uno—for his one good leg. What Zane doesn’t know is that the volcano is a gateway to another world and he is at the center of a powerful prophecy.
A new girl at school, Brooks, informs him that he’s destined to release an evil god from the ancient Maya relic he is imprisoned in—unless she can find and remove it first. Together they return to the volcano, where all kinds of crazy happens. Brooks turns into a hawk, a demon attacks them in a cave, and Rosie gives her all while trying to protect Zane. When Zane decides to save his dog no matter the cost, he is thrust into an adventure full of surprising discoveries, dangerous secrets, and an all-out war between the gods, one of whom happens to be his father. To survive, Zane will have to become the Storm Runner. But how can he run when he can’t even walk well without a cane?
This is the second book coming out of the label created by Rick Riordan with Disney Hyperion, to promote stories based on myths and various cultures. This one is part of a duology about Mayan myths and I definitely want to read it.
Title: Wildcard (Warcross #2)
Author: Marie Lu
Publisher: G.P. Putnam’s Sons Books
Release date: 18/09/2018
Synopsis: Emika Chen barely made it out of the Warcross Championships alive. Now that she knows the truth behind Hideo’s new NeuroLink algorithm, she can no longer trust the one person she’s always looked up to, who she once thought was on her side.
Determined to put a stop to Hideo’s grim plans, Emika and the Phoenix Riders band together, only to find a new threat lurking on the neon-lit streets of Tokyo. Someone’s put a bounty on Emika’s head, and her sole chance for survival lies with Zero and the Blackcoats, his ruthless crew. But Emika soon learns that Zero isn’t all that he seems–and his protection comes at a price.
Caught in a web of betrayal, with the future of free will at risk, just how far will Emika go to take down the man she loves?
To be completely honest, I don’t like the covers for this series but I still want to read it. Especially since everyone seems to have loved Warcross and I adored Marie Lu’s previous series Legend.
Title: Vengeful (The Villains #2)
Author: V.E. Schwab
Release date: 25/09/2018
Synopsis: Sydney once had Serena—beloved sister, betrayed enemy, powerful ally. But now she is alone, except for her thrice-dead dog, Dol, and then there’s Victor, who thinks Sydney doesn’t know about his most recent act of vengeance.
Victor himself is under the radar these days—being buried and re-animated can strike concern even if one has superhuman powers. But despite his own worries, his anger remains. And Eli Ever still has yet to pay for the evil he has done.
I’ve been meaning to read Vicious for ages but I chose to wait for Vengeful to come out first. I’m so glad I’ll finally get to discover this story soon, especially since I’ve loved every Schwab book I’ve read so far.
So, which of these new releases will be joining your TBR this month ?
