Book releases – Summer 2018

Hello readers,

So, I am extremely late but here’s a look at some of the exciting summer book releases! In this selection, you’ll find some new books from some of my favourite authors and some highly anticipated sequels.

Ok, hang on to your wallet and let’s do this 😉

livres à paraitre juillet 2018Title: Bright We Burn (The Conqueror’s Saga #3)

Author: Kiersten White

Publisher: Delacorte

Release date: 10/07/2018

Synopsis: Haunted by the sacrifices he made in Constantinople, Radu is called back to the new capital. Mehmed is building an empire, becoming the sultan his people need. But Mehmed has a secret: as emperor, he is more powerful than ever . . . and desperately lonely. Does this mean Radu can finally have more with Mehmed . . . and would he even want it?

Lada’s rule of absolute justice has created a Wallachia free of crime. But Lada won’t rest until everyone knows that her country’s borders are inviolable. Determined to send a message of defiance, she has the bodies of Mehmed’s peace envoy delivered to him, leaving Radu and Mehmed with no choice. If Lada is allowed to continue, only death will prosper. They must go to war against the girl prince.

But Mehmed knows that he loves her. He understands her. She must lose to him so he can keep her safe. Radu alone fears that they are underestimating his sister’s indomitable will. Only by destroying everything that came before–including her relationships–can Lada truly build the country she wants.

Claim the throne. Demand the crown. Rule the world.

There’s no way you haven’t heard about this epic series by now. I’ll admit I’m a bit embarrassed I haven’t started reading it yet. But I’m hoping to get to it really soon. If you’ve read the first two books, let me know what you thought of them in the comment section.

sorties livres juillet 2018Title: All Your Perfects

Author: Colleen Hoover

Publisher: Atria Books

Release date: 17/07/2018

Synopsis: Quinn and Graham’s perfect love is threatened by their imperfect marriage. The memories, mistakes, and secrets that they have built up over the years are now tearing them apart. The one thing that could save them might also be the very thing that pushes their marriage beyond the point of repair.

All Your Perfects is a profound novel about a damaged couple whose potential future hinges on promises made in the past. This is a heartbreaking page-turner that asks: Can a resounding love with a perfect beginning survive a lifetime between two imperfect people?

The queen of contemporary is baaaaack. I’m so excited for this book, which sounds like the perfect summer read. As usual, I hope Colleen breaks our heart and makes us happy all at one.

Title: The Darkest Legacy (The Darkest Minds #4)

Author: Alexandra Bracken

Publisher: Disney Hyperion

Release date: 31/07/2018

Synopsis: Five years after the destruction of the so-called rehabilitation camps that imprisoned her and countless other Psi kids, seventeen-year-old Suzume “Zu” Kimura has assumed the role of spokesperson for the interim government, fighting for the rights of Psi kids against a growing tide of misinformation and prejudice. But when she is accused of committing a horrifying act, she is forced to go on the run once more in order to stay alive.

Determined to clear her name, Zu finds herself in an uncomfortable alliance with Roman and Priyanka, two mysterious Psi who could either help her prove her innocence or betray her before she gets the chance. But as they travel in search of safety and answers, and Zu grows closer to the people she knows she shouldn’t trust, they uncover even darker things roiling beneath the veneer of the country’s recovery. With her future-and the future of all Psi-on the line, Zu must use her powerful voice to fight back against forces that seek to drive the Psi into the shadows and save the friends who were once her protectors.

I read The Darkest Minds a few years ago, and altough it wasn’t my favorite series I remember loving the characters. I especially loved Zu, who will be out main character on this stand alone spin-off. Have you read The Darkest Minds ?

Title: Catwoman – Soulstealer (DC Icons #3)

Author: Sarah J. Maas

Publisher: Random House Books

Release date: 07/08/2018

Synopsis: When the Bat’s away, the Cat will play. It’s time to see how many lives this cat really has. . . .

Two years after escaping Gotham City’s slums, Selina Kyle returns as the mysterious and wealthy Holly Vanderhees. She quickly discovers that with Batman off on a vital mission, Batwing is left to hold back the tide of notorious criminals. Gotham City is ripe for the taking.

Meanwhile, Luke Fox wants to prove he has what it takes to help people in his role as Batwing. He targets a new thief on the prowl who seems cleverer than most. She has teamed up with Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, and together they are wreaking havoc. This Catwoman may be Batwing’s undoing.

Super heroes and Sarah J. Maas ? Count me in !

I’m so excited for this book, as I always am for a Sarah J. Maas release. First I’ll be reading Wonder Woman and Batman, but I’m definetely hoping to get to this one soon.

Title: City of Ghosts

Author: Victoria Schwab

Publisher: Scholastic

Release: 28/08/2018

Synopsis: Cassidy Blake’s parents are The Inspectres, a (somewhat inept) ghost-hunting team. But Cass herself can REALLY see ghosts. In fact, her best friend, Jacob, just happens to be one.

When The Inspectres head to ultra-haunted Edinburgh, Scotland, for their new TV show, Cass—and Jacob—come along. In Scotland, Cass is surrounded by ghosts, not all of them friendly. Then she meets Lara, a girl who can also see the dead. But Lara tells Cassidy that as an In-betweener, their job is to send ghosts permanently beyond the Veil. Cass isn’t sure about her new mission, but she does know the sinister Red Raven haunting the city doesn’t belong in her world. Cassidy’s powers will draw her into an epic fight that stretches through the worlds of the living and the dead, in order to save herself.

Victoria Schwab is back with a new novel. So far Vic has never let me down… her books are fantastic and always blew me away. I’m very intringued by this synopsis and looking forward to reading City of Ghosts.

Happy Readings,
