Bookish News – November & December 2017

Hello readers, today I am back with all the exciting reading news from the past few weeks! Seeing as I’m kind of behind schedule here, we will be covering both November and December in this bookish news. Alright ? Let’s go!

📌 Cover reveal for Queen of Air and Darkness

news livresquesAs you may -or may not- know, a little while ago Cassandra Clare announced some changes in her publishing schedule. Indeed, in 2018 we won’t be reading the first book in the Last Hours series. Instead, we will get Queen of Air and Darkness, book three of The Dark Artifices.

Now we finally have a cover for this highly anticipated release. The cover uses the same visual codes used in the previous one, but this time with Annabelle.

With this cover reveal, we also got a synopsis (careful, it’s full of spoilers for Lord of Shadows).

“What if damnation is the price of true love? Innocent blood has been spilled on the steps of the Council Hall, the sacred stronghold of the Shadowhunters. In the wake of the tragic death of Livia Blackthorn, the Clave teeters on the brink of civil war. One fragment of the Blackthorn family flees to Los Angeles, seeking to discover the source of the blight that is destroying the race of warlocks. Meanwhile, Julian and Emma take desperate measures to put their forbidden love aside and undertake a perilous mission to Faerie to retrieve the Black Volume of the Dead. What they find in the Courts is a secret that may tear the Shadow World asunder and open a dark path into a future they could never have imagined. Caught in a race against time, Emma and Julian must save the world of Shadowhunters before the deadly power of the parabatai curse destroys them and everyone they love.”

Sadly, we will have to be patient because this book won’t come out until December 2018.

📌 Vicous gets a new look

news livresquesIn 2018, Victoria Schwab will publish Vengeful, the sequel to her bestseller Vicious. And to celebrate, Vicious is getting a new cover, which I adore.

Ever since I’ve started reading Schwab’s books, I’ve been dying to read this one. And this cover change is exactly what I’ve been waiting for. Not that I think the previous cover wasn’t pretty, I actually loved it. But now I know Vengeful and Vicous will match with this gorgeous edition.

Wil Staehle is the genius behind this do-over, and he was also the guy who designed the Shades of Magic series.

This new cover comes out on paperbacks and hardbacks on May 29th, 2018. As for Vengeful, it will be coming out in September 2018.

📌 Cover reveal for Red Queen number four

A few weeks ago we discovered the cover for War Storm, the fourth and final book of the Red Queen saga by Victoria Aveyard.

I am completely in love with this cover, and hopefully, I’ll find the time to get caught up on the series before the last book comes out in May 2018 ;).

📌 Cassandra Clare has a new project

Great news for all of us Cassie Clare fans! Indeed, the best selling author is currently working on a new and exciting project. This new project won’t see the light of day for a little while (at least a couple of years), but we already know a bit about it. The first book will be called Sword Catcher, and here’s a quick synopsis :

Sword Catcher is the first book in a high fantasy series. It’s the tale of a young man raised to be the body double for an unworthy prince, a young woman destined to change the world, and a host of other characters: criminals, princes, magicians, and warriors.”

I don’t know about you, but I am definitely pumped about this new series by Cassandra Clare.

📌 A new novel for Amy Harmon

In February 2018, the Making Faces author, Amy Harmon, is back with a new book. The Smallest Part is a spin-off from one of her previous books, The Book of David and it will follow Dr Noah Andelin.

Here are the cover and the synopsis…

“It was a big lie. The biggest lie she’d ever told. It reverberated through her head as she said it, ringing eerily, and the girl behind her eyes—the girl who knew the truth—screamed, and her scream echoed along with the lie. “Are you in love with Noah, Mercedes?” Cora asked. “I mean . . . I know you love him. You’ve been friends forever. We all have. But are you in love with him?” If it had been anyone else—anyone—Mercedes would have stuck out her chest, folded her skinny arms, and let her feelings be known. She would have claimed him. But it was Cora. Brave, beautiful, broken Cora, and Cora loved Noah too. So Mercedes lied. And with that lie, she lost him. With that lie, she sealed her fate. She was the best friend, the bridesmaid, the godmother, the glue. She was there for the good times and the bad, the ups and the downs, the biggest moments and the smallest parts. And she was there when it all came crashing down. This is the tale of the girl who didn’t get the guy.”

📌 ACOTAR 3.5 gets a title

Sarah J. Maas is not done with the ACOTAR universe (bless her!). On May 1st, 2018 the Throne of Glass author will publish a novella that is set between the original trilogy and the future books. So, a little while back we got a title and a release date for this 256 pages long novella.

Narrated by Feyre and Rhysand, this story bridges the events in A Court of Wings and Ruin and the upcoming spinoff novels.

Feyre, Rhys, and their close-knit circle of friends are still busy rebuilding the Night Court and the vastly-changed world beyond. But Winter Solstice is finally near, and with it, a hard-earned reprieve. Yet even the festive atmosphere can’t keep the shadows of the past from looming. As Feyre navigates her first Winter Solstice as High Lady, she finds that those dearest to her have more wounds than she anticipated—scars that will have far-reaching impact on the future of their Court.
